Understanding what happens at each stage of a photography project helps clients prepare effectively and know what to expect. This page walks through the full process from first contact to final delivery.
Each stage has a clear purpose. Nothing is arbitrary. The process is designed to produce good photographs efficiently and without unnecessary friction for the client.
The process begins when a client contacts the studio — by phone, email or through the contact form on this site. At this stage, the client describes the type of session they need, the approximate date and any specific requirements or constraints they are aware of.
There is no commitment at this stage. The studio uses the initial enquiry to understand the scope of the project and to respond with relevant information about availability and pricing.
Once the studio confirms availability, a consultation takes place — either in person, by phone or via video call. This conversation covers the purpose of the photographs, the intended audience, location options, timing preferences and any stylistic direction the client has in mind.
For events and weddings, the studio will ask about the schedule of the day. For commercial work, the brief covers the intended use of the images and any brand guidelines that need to be observed.
After the consultation, the studio sends a written summary of what has been agreed — the session type, date, duration, location, deliverables and total price. The client confirms by returning a signed copy and paying a booking deposit.
The deposit secures the date in the studio's calendar. The remaining balance is due on the day of the session or at a point agreed in advance for larger projects.
Before the session, the photographer reviews the brief and prepares the appropriate equipment. For location sessions, the studio may visit the site in advance to assess lighting conditions at the planned time of day and identify the most useful positions.
For studio product photography, the client is asked to deliver products in advance so the photographer can plan the setup. For portrait sessions, the studio may send a brief guide on clothing choices and what to expect on the day.
On the day of the session, the photographer arrives at the agreed location ahead of schedule to set up and check conditions. For events, this means scouting the space and identifying key positions. For studio sessions, it means testing and confirming the lighting setup.
During the session, the photographer works to the brief while remaining responsive to what is actually happening. Candid moments are captured alongside directed compositions. The client does not need to direct the photographer — that is the photographer's role.
After the session, the studio goes through the full set of images and selects the strongest frames. These are then edited — colour-graded, exposure-corrected and retouched where appropriate. The number of delivered images is as specified in the package or as agreed in the brief.
Delivery is via a password-protected online gallery. Files are provided in high resolution suitable for printing as well as web-optimised versions for digital use. The gallery remains accessible for 60 days after delivery, after which the client is advised to download and back up the files.
Clients do not need to arrange any photography permits or hold any special credentials. The studio manages all professional and logistical requirements independently. Clients simply need to be present and ready for their session.
Sessions can take place at the client's premises, at a selected outdoor location, at a studio space or at an event venue. The studio is familiar with locations across Alexandria and can advise on suitable options if the client does not have a specific place in mind.
All delivered images are fully edited. The studio does not deliver unprocessed raw files as the final product. Editing includes colour grading, exposure correction and selective retouching. Clients can specify if they have a particular look in mind during the briefing.
Clients receive a licence to use the delivered images for the purpose described in the brief. The studio retains copyright in all photographs. Usage terms are outlined in the booking agreement and vary by session type — personal, commercial and editorial uses are handled differently.
The first step is simply describing what kind of session is needed. The studio will respond with relevant information and next steps.
